The Socio-Economic Empowerment with Dignity and Sustainability (SEEDS Program), running from 2019 to 2023, is a collaborative effort between the Siddhartha Social Development Center (SSDC) and the STROMME Foundation, an international non-governmental organization based in Norway. Operating in Banganga municipality – 3, 10, and 11, Kapilvastu, Nepal, the SEEDS Program is designed to address multifaceted issues surrounding socio-economic development while promoting dignity and sustainability.
Focused on three main themes, the SEEDS Program aims to bring about tangible improvements in the lives of community members:
1. **Quality Education:** By enhancing access to quality education, the program seeks to empower individuals with knowledge and skills that can improve their livelihood opportunities and overall well-being. This involves initiatives such as improving school infrastructure, providing teacher training, and promoting educational access for marginalized groups.
2. **Promotion of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs):** Recognizing the importance of civil society in driving social change, the program supports the establishment and strengthening of CSOs in the target areas. These organizations play a crucial role in advocating for community interests, facilitating local development initiatives, and fostering participatory decision-making processes.
3. **Livelihood Improvement:** Through various interventions, including skills training, income-generating activities, and access to microfinance, the SEEDS Program aims to enhance the economic prospects of community members. By promoting sustainable livelihood practices and entrepreneurship, the program seeks to reduce poverty and enhance resilience to economic shocks.
The SEEDS Program adopts a participatory approach, engaging community members in project planning, implementation, and monitoring. By fostering local ownership and collaboration, the program aims to create lasting positive change that empowers individuals, promotes social justice, and contributes to the sustainable development of the target areas.
